Today's news of the Las Vegas massacre streamed across the screen of my computer while we ministered to the children of Guyana, South America. Another horrific and evil of Satan on display for the world to see. I could not help but be struck by the thought as I am sure you also may have had. Life is fragile, no one knows the day or the time when we will breathe our very last breath. I thought about these people who lost their lives and the many who were hurt. And for those just hanging onto life by a single thread of Gods mercy. What had they been doing just moments before? Singing, dancing, and for some, drinking and laughing. What were some others doing? Enjoying friends and others sharing a joke. Maybe some were even taunting God or speaking with vulgarities. Some were hugging and kissing and friendly, others were possibly frustrated and angry. How quickly life can change. I am sure none of them ever expected it to end this way. They blinked and suddenly they were facing eternity. Others who were there were confronted with life and death all around them. Some carried the title Christian, others carried no title at all. Some were confronted with their lives passing in front of them and cried out to God. Others absolutely had nowhere to cry out to, because they long ago had dismissed the reality of God. Some will be changed forever and recognize what it means to live close to the Almighty King of Kings and this experience will draw them much closer to God. Others will use this as a further excuse to move away from God. Some will reflect on the holiness God has called us too. Others will double down on sinning. Today as I looked out over the many children of Guyana. I saw Hindu children with the Hindu bindi on their forehead, the Muslim Children with their heads covered, and of course many who I could not connect by visual experience to any specific religion. I was impressed by the thought that crosses my mind every time Beth and I scan the audiences of the children. What is in store for these little lives? God is working in theses lives. These children are hearing the truth of Gods Word. The gospel is shared in ways that children understand and can respond knowing, loving and honoring our Savior and Lord. This is Eternal transformation that means the children will spend eternity with Jesus. When you reach a child with the gospel they hopefully have a whole lifetime to love and serve the Lord. We pray they will always make the right choices and grow to be men and women who will become Godly church and business leaders, mothers and fathers who strive to pass on their faith to next generation, and workers in all kinds of fields where they can shine for Christ. Today so many Christians have strayed from the commands of God. We pray these children will remain true to Gods Word. We pray if they do they will confess their sin and repent of their sins. We want them to learn to spend time with God daily, as they start a habit of having quiet time with God 365 days a year. As we look out at these faces and realize they are looking at ours, we can't know for sure what is ahead in each of their lives here on earth. But for those who truly know and love Jesus, we can be assured they will see Him in heaven where they will reign in glory with Him. Hopefully these people who were just killed by the evil shooter have that same reality. For some who have chosen to ignore God and ignore His word, we prayerfully hope and pray this becomes a wake up call and each of us realize that God is calling you back into fellowship with Him. Just in case you do not have assurance of where you will go after you die, or have not even give it a thought, maybe it is time to think about and do something about it. The Bible says, God is perfect, the creator of all including you and me. He loves you and me. He made heaven for us but because you and I are sinners and God is perfect we are separated from God. The Bible says, "The wages of sin is death but gift of God is eternal (everlasting life)" Romans 3:23. The Bible says we are all sinners, (by the way What is sin? We tell the children, Sin is anything you think, say or do that breaks God's laws and makes Him very sad). Romans 6:28 says "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." It a serious thing to think about separation from anything to do with God forever. For some of us who name the name of Jesus we have become numb to sin and is time to stand before a holy perfect God and repent before its to late. We have become apathetic and we are following the world and its ways. We have a serious problem and we have an amazing solution to our problem. John 3:16 -17 says, " For God so loved the world, that He gave is only begotten Son Jesus, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." Religion will not save you, working hard to be a good person will not save you. Being a good person will not move you to head on the line at the pearly gates. This verse makes it very plain and simple - you must believe on the Lord Jesus. You must acknowledge before God and man that Jesus died on the cross, was buried and three days later He arose from the grave.. proving He is God and the conquerer over death. You must admit you are sinner and are in need of a Savior. Then you must believe or trust that Jesus is that Savior. "God did not come into the world to condemn the but the world through Him might be saved." Romans 3:17. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved. Without that we are doomed to eternal life in hell. That decision can be made while you are still alive, but once you die the decision is final. Think about that in light of what you saw today.
