They Forgot - Have We Also Forgotten? "There arose a generation that knew not God..." Judges 2:10 There a moments in history when the Holy Spirit touched the hearts of many ..we call these revivals. It is time to take lead in sharing Jesus with the boys and girls. Because if we don't reach and teach them, the world will. Think about missed opportunities for the Christians to stand and the resulting consequences. Read Judges 2:11- 16 THEY FORGOT! The Israelites had settled in promise land. You would think they would honor the God who had followed up on the promise to His people. They heard the stories of Noah - They knew the story of their grand father Abraham. They could remember when God spoke to Moses in a burning bush. They could remember the stories about the plaques and the parting of the Red Sea . . .they even celebrated Passover regularly. They had forgotten to instill the Hebrew Shema in their children. The Bible explains the Jewish Shema in Deuteronomy 6: 4-9 "Hear oh Israel : The Lord our God, the Lord is the one. You SHALL love the Lord thy God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. YOU SHALL teach the diligently to your children, and SHALL talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lay down and when you rise. " They were told they would one day be in the land of milk and honey, and God had fulfilled the promise.. But even after all this, the Bible says there arose a generation that knew no God. So many places in our world started out so right but are now facing a generation that has fallen from the truth because the previous generation forgot what is truly important. WHAT A SAD INDICTMENT ON A PREVIOUS GENERATION... WHY? 1. THEY WERE DISTRACTED BY THE IMMEDIATE. THEY WERE INVOLVED IN THE EVERYDAY - they ran to and fro just living, just like us. 2. Priorities to take care of. 3. Money to make. 4. Appointments to keep. 5. Children to feed, cloth, and get to school. 6. Tired and weary. 7. Everything took the time from them. Busy! Busy! Busy! Especially for the things of God. They were like Martha in the story of Mary, Martha and Jesus . Martha had forgotten what was truly the most important thing. THE GOOD BECAME THE ENEMY OF THE BEST. THEY DISREGARDED WHAT WAS ULTIMATE. When they worshipped some doubted. They were under the misconception that the church or religion was more important than a personal relationship with GOD. Church responsibilities had taken the place of the call COMMAND ... And many were in church but had forgotten the REASON WHY THEY WERE DOING WHAT THEY WERE DOING. They had lost touch with the vision God had for His people. Have we lost sight ..have we forgotten the reason we were saved. WHY? WHY? WHY WERE YOU SAVED? We who know Jesus have been plucked out of this world and are now the Sons and Daughters of an almighty, loving God. Why us? As I drive around the c
ountry and see ALL the people or as drive on a freeway in America, I can't help thinking how many of these people will be in hell if someone does not tell them about Jesus. Why Was a wretched sinner like myself AND YOU given the opportunity to love, honor, and serve OUR Savior, LORD? When I go into the schools across North America, and the Caribbean, I look at so many other places in the world and see 100's and even 1000's of children. I am touched and so burdened for these children. Your principals are calling ...please come. The churches have an amazing opportunity. The pastors have been given the mandate. God forbid we AS born again believers do not take advantage of the opportunity before us.. We complain and everywhere I go I hear how bad things are; MURDER, MAYHEM, SCAMMING. But the time for talking is over; we need dedicated, COMMITTED Christians to walk through the doors to reach our children. We can see what has happened; we have lost a complete generation and now we face, or better said are reaping the consequences of those decisions and choices. We have been DISTRACTED BY THE IMMEDIATE! WE HAVE DISREGARDED THE ULTIMATE! WE NEED TO HAVE REVIVAL IN OUR LIVES AS WELL AS REVIVAL IN THE CHURCHES. The world needs to see it in each of us. The devil is defeated; Jesus is greater than the devil in the world. The Bible says, " Greater is He, that is you then who is in the world." Ephesians 3:20 Now to Him who is able to exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in U.S. To Him be the glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever amen. GOD HAS GIVEN THREE central COMMANDS.. IN THE NEW TESTAMENT... 1. Love the Lord thy God with all your heart, soul, and mind. 2. Love your neighbor as yourself. 3. Go make disciples ... No age attached or connected to this command.
