Today I was reading a story about the famous George Mueller, a missionary from Bristol England. He exhibited amazing trust as he asked only for his daily bread. He is known for feeding and taking care of nearly 120,000 orphan children at his orphanage, I’ve always been intrigued by his faith and life stories. As I read this particular story, I was again not disappointed. It seems a Captain of a ship was approached by Mueller, and he proceeded to tell the Captain he needed to be in Essex England by a specific day and time. The captain replied "I am so sorry but that will be impossible." To which Mueller replied, “very well, if your ship cannot take me, then God will find another way. Let’s go down into the chart room and pray" Then guess what?! The fog lifted, and low and behold, he arrived on time. Another story about this great preacher of faith that touched my heart and really made me look at my own faith is this: One morning at the orphanage, all the plates and bowls were empty. There was no food in the cabinets and no money to buy food. Nothing! The children sat down at the table for breakfast not knowing there was nothing to eat. Nothing! Mueller turned his heart toward heaven and called out to God in prayer. He prayed, “Father thank you for the food you have for us to eat.” Just then, there was a knock at the door. It was the milkman. Seems his milk cart had broken down and the orphans could have the milk, because otherwise it would spoil. Faith in action. Within minutes, a baker showed up and expressed, “ I could not sleep all night, somehow I knew you would need bread in the morning so I baked all night!” By the way, the 10 milk cans was just enough for the 300 orphans. Not a drop left. Nothing! I know I was encouraged and challenged by these testimonies; hopefully you are also. What's interesting with all this is that Mueller never saw himself as especially gifted with a gift of faith or trust. He said, “I trust God”... I will ask God for my daily needs, and he supplies.” The bottom line is we can trust God if we are living in such a way that honors and glorifies Him. “Be assured if you walk with Him, and look to Him, and expect help from Him, He will never fail you.” George Mueller 1. Trust, even in the midst of hardship and struggle. 2. Many times when we have a lack in our lives, we start to worry and forget to look up. 3. It is like the farmer - the farmer plants seeds with the expectation that God will send the rain and sunshine. God expects us to do our part, but leave the results to Him. He is always loving and sovereign. He knows how and when things are to happen. 4. “The vigor of our Spiritual life will be in exact proportion to the place held by the Bible in our lives and thoughts.” George Mueller 5. “Faith Ends Where Worry Begins, Worry Ends Where Faith Begins.” George Mueller 6. “Trials, Obstacles, Difficulties and Sometimes defeats are the very food of of faith.” George Mueller. 7. God is the hearer of Prayer. “MY LORD IS NOT LIMITED, HE AGAIN CAN SUPPLY" ......George Mueller
