Leaders Are Learners

Leaders know the importance of seeking. Seeking is the first part of learning. God has intricately designed us to close out what is not important to our goals and dreams, but rather focus on the things that are most important at that moment. There are so many things coming at us each moment. We would not be able to process every sight, sound, or feeling. God built the brain with a tool to filter. Have you ever wondered why when you are looking for a sale on a cell phone they seem to show up in every magazine you pick up or in every T.V. Ad? The fact is, they have been there all along. It is just now you are seeking and seeing. You never wanted or needed one before. Also, have you ever felt threatened? Did you notice how your mind and body automatically go into a defensive mode, and then after seeking answers, it focuses on protection and solutions. This blocking/seeking mechanism is called the reticular activating system, and it is located at the base of our brain. This is a fairly small part of the brain. It is about the size of your small finger but packs an unbelievable punch. It has been called the "Gatekeeper" to the brain. It is the way we focus on what is important to us. It will help you to seek clues and hints to achieve what you are focused on, or what is important to you. Learn to focus! Write and post your goals and dreams. Journal about those goals and dreams. Use sticky notes to remind yourself of your goals and dreams .. place them everywhere! Create storyboards and place them strategically. Pray about your dreams and goals. Talk to others about your dreams and goals. Declare them to others carefully ...don’t ever let someone steal your dreams. The reticular activating system is God’s gift to each of us. Use it for His glory ..now get on with it! Dream big and set God sized goals. It can help you to focus on family, business, educational and ministry goals. There is a “magic” to thinking BIG. This verse even takes on even more meaning.. “Seek ye the Kingdom of God and His righteous and all other things will be ADDED unto you.”
