Eternity Is Forever

In recent days, we have heard the names of the famous cross our screens as their lives are proclaimed. We have listened to eulogies of their life accomplishments and watched as people mourn, cry, dressed in black. These people have so much material wealth, great prestige and notoriety. But what now? As we watched these people ceremoniously travel the roads and skies within their elaborate caskets, did any of you notice ..no u-haul trailer or truck was following along with their favorite possessions. We asked a very important question and Facebook lit up. The question was; Where do you think you will spend eternity after you die? Some refused to accept that there was an afterlife at all. They instead to chose to believe the finality. No hope, it’s just over - but at least they lived their life on the high side. Their idea of life and death was uncertain. Death is final and worms just eat the flesh and it’s just over. Get all the gusto out of life, because upon the expiration date stamped on your life, it’s over! Never again will you see family, friends and most of all God. There were many who became downright angry with the question and turned very antagonistic as they turned to name calling. Some believed that everyone is going to heaven not matter what, at least that is what they hoped for. Of course they weren’t for sure. Others believed life is just a training ground and you will come back as a donkey or a rat. Some said it all depends how good you have been. How many food banks you served at or how many little old ladies you helped to cross the street. If you are just a good person that is all that matters to God. Some believed that there is a God in Heaven that loves us. He created everything and he created the ages. He is the God that maintains order of the universe. He is perfect and because of sin we are not. Because of sin we are separated from a pure and perfect and all loving God. They believe that by trusting Jesus, His Son, to be their Savior from their sins, they are insured an eternity, their forever in heaven. Because God loved them so much they are joint heirs with God. They know God has dominion over all. They know for sure and have no doubt but only a blessed hope. You can have it all by the worlds standard, but be as poor a church mouse the day you die. You may be remembered on a plaque, street sign, building or in a museum, but that is it. Time for a clear head and some true reflection of what hope you have or don’t have for eternity which is forever. The expiration date is stamped on all of us just like a milk carton. Is you expiration date connected to nothing, hell or heaven? No one knows when we will breathe our last breath, but we all know we will. For God so loved the world that whoever believes (trusts that Jesus died was buried and three days later arose from the grave, and is now in heaven preparing our eternity with Him) will have eternal life and will not perish (be separated from God forever, in hell forever and ever and ever). “ The wages of sin (separation from God) is death but the gift of God is eternal life (with Him in heaven.) ."
