Structured And Successful Living

We live in a world that is more complex and where options and opinions are plentiful and divergent. This makes it very difficult to have clear and solid absolutes and vision. Today with access to Google, Facebook and Twitter, opinion and truth blurr the eyes of many. Republicans and Democrats log jam and obstruct without sane logic. Insanity is everywhere and dots the landscape of the culture. Fools and foolish actions seem to highlight the world of media and entertainment. Where are the foundations of society? Where is the structure? What are we as a nation building our structure on? I walked onto the beach and there it was, a beautiful sand sculpture to be enjoyed, but only for a fleeting moment. Here today and gone tomorrow. Beautiful full-sized artist renditions of castles and even a full sized replica of Leonardo Da Vinci's painting of the Lord's Supper stood out on the seashore. It was truly amazing until the wind blew or the tide rose and washed away the foundation of such glorious expressions of beauty. The only thing left to enjoy were the photographs of what once stood. There is a story in the Bible that Jesus Himself taught. It is the story of the wise and foolish men who built the structure of their houses on the different foundations. One built his house upon the sand, the other on the rock. Both with the same outward architectural beauty. Jesus said, it began to rain, the floods and winds ravaged the 2 houses. The house build on sand fell down and was left in ruin, while the house built on rock stood firm and was not moved. The foolish man had easy access and easy digging, while the man who built his house on rock had to work hard and it was not easy. As the storms and floods of our lives rush in, you will either be left standing, or washed away, crushed and destroyed, depending on how you are structured and the foundation you have built your house on.
Jesus is the rock upon which we build the structure of our lives. The word of God is here to help us build structure into our lives. If we obey His word then we have assurance that the storms of life and the floods of temptation and trials will not overwhelm you as you stand firm on the promise and presence of God. In 2019, stop for a moment and see what the structure of your life is built on. Are you building on sand or are you building on rock? We do not know exactly what lies ahead, but we have a choice on what foundation we want to build our house on. What will it be?
