This Is What You Do Next

So many times I watch business and ministry stagnate and plateau for one basic reason. They have a great message and even a dream, but they don’t know how to grow. They want to grow but they keep doing the same thing over, and never get critical mass or momentum. How many times do you find yourself, your business or ministry, in the same starting blocks, in the same race over and over. Nothing is more frustrating than always starting and starting again. We as humans have a God given gift of being able to be intentional in our thoughts and actions. We can be intentional about growth; business and ministry depends on God directed growth. So many today cast a vision and or present the challenge in ways those who hear and see it connect emotionally to what has been shared. At that moment, it is critical those who have caught the vision or who hear the call of God on their lives are also presented with the next step. If not, the height of enthusiasm will become the low of frustration and doubt which leads to no action at all. This brings you, the leader, to the realization you are once again at ground zero. There is nothing that works 100% of the time, but there are some tools I have used over years to grow and build. I believe in always assuming someone’s interest and their approval until otherwise noted. I never start a meeting or a one on one conversation without the assumption they are going to approve or sign on. This assumption is that God has placed the person front and center in the intersection of my life. Because of these assumptions, I believe they are just waiting for the next step in their journey. This why I always want to have the next step planned as I proclaim, “This is the next step or this is what we need to do next.” Planning ahead requires thinking ahead and knowing the venue, time and details for the next move forward. Have them prepared and ready in advance. So many times, I have watched the great expenditure of energy, time and money in business and ministry without any new results because those who are wanting to be a part of what you presented, are left in limbo. Time is the thief of interest. This is especially important when you are planning events. Building numbers from event to event is one of the best ways to grow and build momentum and enthusiasm for the cause. It is also an indicator of how the business or ministry is growing, as well how strong the commitment is from the persons involved. To talk about training without having the details as to where and when the training is going to take place requires and additional step of re-contacting and notifying the parties interested. Initiating contacts, traveling to the contacts and then meeting with them requires mental, physical and spiritual strength - why not be ready for the next steps. Vogels Law - “Never, never, never, never, never, never, never leave any meeting without setting another meeting.” “Never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never leave God out of the equation.”
