The Word of God is a treasure. Often, we take it for granted, but it is the foundation for all of life. This foundation is especially important for our children. How many times do your children find you studying God’s Word? What are they seeing as most important to you? What examples are living to show that God is central to living life? Revival is not about just reaching the lost; it is about reviving the hearts of those who claim Christ as their Savior and Lord, but find themselves adapting to the world and finding themselves off track, needing renewal in their lives. We all need to search our hearts and ask God to reveal to each of us where we are slipping and need adjustment to be more like Him. The only way to truly have renewal of our mind is by seeking God and His ways, as expressed in God’s word- The Bible. Just as a strong and secure foundation is essential to a building, so is a Spiritual foundation to our lives. Your children may not show interest in a message from Gods word – they may instead be preoccupied with sports, you tubing or video games etc. But let me ask you some important questions? When is the last time your children caught you reading God’s word - your Bible? Do they see you jump out of bed and enthusiastically go to church to worship your Lord on Sunday morning? What do they see you worship and prioritize in your life? Our example as parents today is so very important. The world is constantly and rapidly communicating to our children. The speed and the knowledge available to them today is unprecedented. Today's weirdos are now mainstream, and confusion and chaos surrounds our children. The secularist are attempting to lead our children down the wrong paths. The wickedness of the day is affecting all of us. One needs to intentionally reach and teach our children the Truth’s of God’s Word. The decision for eternity should be a real priority for our children. Transformation and living for Christ needs to be continually reinforced in their lives. Our children must make his or hers choice as God’s Spirit touches their lives. We as parents must help lead them to right decision and choice. Just as God touches an adults life, he also touches a child’s life … especially if properly instructed. You can only be an example and a spiritual encouragement as a parent. You set the tone; your influence and how you train up the child. You can be a prayer warrior for the soul of others, especially your own children.
How do your children see you exercise your faith in God? How has your thought life been? What kind of things are continually on your mind? It has been said, "what your children see you do and believe they will often grow up and do in excess." “The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing asunder of soul and spirit, and the joints and marrow, and is the discern er of thought and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 God gave us the Bible so that we may hear from Him and so we would be challenged and encouraged.
