The pie does not disappear it gets larger. I have heard the saying the pie is just this big or this is a win -lose game.. I am a firm believer in expansion and growth. But I add, it must be solid expansion and growth. In ministry and business we must look for touch points to expand our influence. In life may I encourage you to always be identifying ways to expand your circle of influence. Look for specific areas where your mission and goals can connect with others doing a segregated work. Work that you can help advance through their connections. Work that will further the vision God has given you. These are often called win-win scenarios. I am blessed to have been called to be a missionary with Child Evangelism. God has called me and given me His vision to reach the children of the world with His gospel. He has set my reticular activating system ( a little portion at the base of the brain that God created; that is how the brain focuses attention - it helps you notice the things that important, new and different ) God has set your reticular activating system on what he has called you to do. What is important to you! Business, family, marriage, sports etc. The ministry I am passionate about seeks first to evangelize children primarily ages 4-14, then to disciple them in the Word of God and to establish them in the Bible believing churches for growth. So when I look at this I ask myself what are the touch points with other ministries? How do we intersect and why? First we minister to those who are age 4-14. Why? Because that is the age where ministry is most effective and yet most neglected.. But the question immediately becomes what happens when that child reaches the age of 15 - 16; is there a ministry that ministers to that age group? What are our touch points in ministry? The organization Youth for Christ works with the schools - Jr./High school. So what if our touch point of expansion is to pass on the names of children advancing to the Jr. High schools in the communities. And have a ministry in elementary school, Good News Clubs. How could our resources be used to further the goal and vision? Or what about the connecting touch points with the local churches in your communities that are praying more people will come to Christ and come to their church? What are the touch points.. The children and the parents can be encouraged to come to church as they say yes to Christ. What about those organizations that provide Bibles? Their touch point to our ministry would be a Bible distribution to all the children in our Good News Clubs. The public schools are desperate for volunteer help and select work and maintenance - most school districts work with the churches in their community to get volunteers. This creates another touch point and opportunity to reach more children as we leverage these opportunities. How about the local pregnancy centers where mothers and their children might just pick up one of our published children's daily devotionals -The Wonderbook. The list can go on and on ...think creatively and strategically! You can expand your circle of influence by connecting to someone else's circle. Learn the power of collaborative thinking. Trust is the big word to make this happen. Always look for ways to offer great value to others. Always pray and and ask God for wisdom and direction before you officially, or unofficially partner. A very important thing to remember is to study and reflect on the mission of someone else. You hold the key to opening the door to what really matters to them. Through this connecting touch point you will create lasting friendships and bonds. So eat a piece of the pie and enjoy more and more each day as the pie just gets bigger!
