Strive to self educate

Strive to always self educate When God reveals what He has planned for you and gives you a passion to connect to, you are ready. The idea of reading a book or studying a subject was never something I did in school. Looking back I am not proud of that and certainly would not encourage that behavior. I failed to get the foundations for certain subjects and therefore made it more and more difficult to build on the foundational principals and laws as I progressed through school. My classes continued to become more difficult to the point that I finally gave up. One day and I can still remember that day ...I heard someone say. ."you will be the same person you are today accept for the books you read and the people you associate with." I started reading books and started the process of re- inventing my-self. I still remember the first book I read from cover to cover. " There Can Be A New You!" -By Polston. I will never forget the impact this book made in my life. I started to make it a habit to read and attend seminars and started to realize that winning is always just being a step ahead of the other person. I started winning and as a result, started achieving what most others were not. God blessed my efforts. The results of finding ones passion and then feeding it by self educating is so powerful. Anyone can do it! The results from self educating will always put you one and two steps ahead of everyone else and therefore bring you into a whole new stratosphere of influence. I would encourage everyone who is wanting to grow and to be more effective to invest some of your income every year to to get better at what you do. Invest in learning how to be more effective. Take some of those hard earned dollars and go to a conference. These conferences are amazing forums to meet like-minded people. I have learned these opportunities from meeting the cream of the crop; they bring opportunities of all kinds. I challenge you to do this and then balance your funds expended against the value of the contacts you have had the opportunity to meet. I just don't attend conferences to take notes ...OH NO!! It is much more for me.. I look at what is presented and apply it to where I am. A secular conference helps the ministry of reaching more boys and girls for Christ. The way something is presented, the way the speaker delivers the message, even the stage sets... are all a part of my self education. It's much more than taking notes; it is an opportunity to meet and set up meetings with people who are usually ahead of the curve...so many of these opportunities have literally changed lives. These conferences expand your influence as well. They are places where you can go and present your passion and vision and be ever expanding your opportunities and level of contacts. It is a place where you can move to higher levels of thought and action. Conferences don't end with the content; that is just the start. Always include in your budget for the conference an investment of dollars to invite influencers to meet with you over breakfast and lunch. Scout out the venue before the event for a quiet and nice place to meet. Always pick up the tab. I have a rule in life I like to follow... In fact I call it " Vogel's law". You never leave a meeting without having setting another meeting.. So for me Conferences are sold within the conference. I will dedicate a blog to just this rule later.
