Teachability

ree

One thing that defines a leader better than anything is teachability. So many today are

stagnant in usefulness, not because of lack of capabilities, but because they are no longer teachable. May I encourage you to “pick peoples brains” and ask questions rather than just taking a dogmatic stand.

Many times I see people in leadership want to take a position rather than listen and learn from others, and possibly readjust their positions. It is necessary to listen and to learn, but it is also very important to discern truth by weighing it against God’s word. The Bible is very clear, 1 John 4; ( New American Standard version) "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world." I believe what I have found myself doing at times is not being “choosy” about who and what I act upon. I encourage you to pick wisely, take notes feverishly and read books. There is a reason they say you will be same as you are today as you will be 5 years from now, except for books you read and people you associate with. Be careful and choose whom you learn from, as there are certain people to learn from; they usually are people whose reach exceeds their grasp. They are Big Thinkers, Movers and Shakers in their own ways. We need to be careful of group thinking, where positions are defined and stuck. Group thinking is what someone said or did and because you heard it so many times, we just go along and believe the same. When you blindly follow the crowd in business, political correctness and science. This can even happen in the name of the church. The leaders are doing the same as they see others doing rather than learning new and redefining ideas or plans. The time to think is now and the time to act is after prayer and asking for divine discernment. We have the mind of Christ – creative and very strategic. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Romans 12:2 - And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

1 Corinthians 2:14-16 - But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned.

Philippians 2:5 - Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 1 Corinthians 2:13-16 - Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.   I just believe the Holy Spirit meets us when we prayerfully open His Word, granting us access and insight into Gods direction and guidance. Preparing the heart and the mind. Just never become stagnant. Be open to new and fresh ideas and realize we are on the greatest adventure of all time. www.Bbexcellentadventure.com – Ministry is a blast! Learn, learn some more and never stop.
